International scientific and practical conference

On December 12, 2023, an International Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic “Multidisciplinary and integrated approach to rehabilitation care” was held at the National Center for Children’s Rehabilitation. The event, supported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, brought together representatives from various medical centers and representatives of the French delegation of Fondation Hopale.

The purpose of the conference was to discuss scientific, practical and expert practices in the field of rehabilitation, especially among persons with disabilities, in organizations at various levels. The event became a platform for the exchange of best practices and knowledge in the field of medicine and health care for children and adults.

The conference discussed issues of neurological physiotherapy, orthopedic rehabilitation in children, spinal cord injuries, pediatric rehabilitation care, resort factors of medical rehabilitation, the use of technical means of rehabilitation, modern trends in medical rehabilitation in Kazakhstan, as well as the results of cooperation between the state and non-governmental organizations.

“This event touches on many pressing issues of rehabilitation at the present stage of development: solving the problem of children’s disabilities and their rehabilitation are one of the priority areas of social policy in Kazakhstan. The relevance of the problem of disability and the organization of rehabilitation assistance is due to its scale. One of the main goals of holding such events is to exchange best practices and knowledge in the field of medicine and health care for children and adults,” noted Zhamilya Battakova, Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Children’s Rehabilitation, in her welcoming speech.

According to her, 4,200 children undergo rehabilitation at the NCDR every year. Over 15 years, 61,647 children were healed. Of these, 32,975 children (56%) were socialized. The provision of a complex of rehabilitation services is carried out using an integrative rehabilitation model, where the basis of activities is the use of three aspects of multidisciplinary rehabilitation: medical rehabilitation, pedagogical correction, social adaptation.

“I believe that this conference, held with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a significant event in the scientific and practical field of rehabilitation assistance for both children and adults. In this regard, I would like to note that the National Center for Children’s Rehabilitation NJSC signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Higher Institute of Psychomotor Rehabilitation – ISPR (Paris). The goal is to train psychomotor therapy for medical workers working with children with neurodevelopmental disorders, adults with neurological disorders and mental illnesses,” added Zh. Battakova.

At the same time, during the event, an introductory tour of the center was held for conference participants and guests: a visit to the robotic rehabilitation laboratory, winter garden, race track, modeling and orthotics laboratory, social and pedagogical rehabilitation, as well as the opening of the “France” hall, a school for young scientists.

At the end of the conference, negotiations were held on further international cooperation between the Khopale Foundation (France) and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the NJSC National Center for Children’s Rehabilitation.
